What I Think — Pros and Cons
To tell you the truth, at first, I did not think that Jasper.AI would be all that great. However, after using the platform and seeing everything that Jasper can do, I have found Jasper to be a very useful tool.
BONUS FOR OUR READERS
I think that the Documents template is by far the most useful. It is great for generating ideas or even writing a whole article. However, it does take some time to understand how Jasper thinks in order to have it generate the content that I’m looking for.
As a writer, when I describe the article that I want Jasper to write, I find myself starting to actually write the article. So, I had to change my mindset. Instead of writing for a human, I am writing for Jasper who will then take that information and write content for humans. Anyways, it can take some time to learn how to write for Jasper so that it can write for you.
Unfortunately, the subscription price for Jasper AI may not be the only cost associated with using the platform. There are other integrated tools such as a plagiarism checker that will cost extra. Also, Jasper Art is not free and costs an additional $20 a month.
I also found Jasper to be far from perfect. Jasper tends to repeat itself and just reword content over and over again. Another problem is that Jasper is prone to “lying.” Jasper will make up facts; so, you have to pay careful attention to what it writes and do a lot of fact-checking.
On a more positive note, Jasper is packed full of multiple types of marketing templates that are useful to create pieces of copy in a certain format/style.
I found Jasper’s range of writing from mimicking someone’s voice to telling a story to be useful and impressive.
When it comes down to it, I found the subscription to be worth it. However, I would only recommend it to those who plan to use Jasper more intensely. For the casual user, I think the price is not worth it.
Introduction
Jasper has “read” over 10% of the internet. With that data, Jasper is able to write content that is similar to the style that it read. As a result, content written by Jasper can be indistinguishable when compared to human written content. After all, Jasper is mimicking what it read.
As a content writer myself, it makes me a bit concerned considering that Jasper may one day take over my job. However, there will always be a need to operate or tell Jasper what to do.
So, for other content writers out there, understanding how Jasper works is critical if you want to stay in business. While personally writing content may become a thing of the past, operating or controlling the AI may just become a highly sought-after skill that you could fill.
History
The history of Jasper is not as boring as you would think. In January of 2021, Jasper AI was officially launched and at the time was called: “Conversion AI.”
Originally, it was designed to focus on copy for Facebook, but in March of 2021, the tool “Headline” was integrated into the system which was for creating headlines and as a blog post writing assistant.
Then, Conversion AI absorbed Shortly AI which was a leading AI content writing tool. In September of 2021, Conversion AI became Jarvis AI.
However, there was another rebranding after Disney lawyers threatened Jarvis AI with a lawsuit due to the fact that “Jarvis” is the same name as Iron Man’s AI assistant.
So, in January of 2022, Jarvis AI became Jasper AI. Due to Jasper AI’s now immense popularity among AI content generators, I think it is safe to say that Jasper AI will not be changing names anytime soon.
What Is GPT-3
GPT stands for “Generative Pre-trained Transformer” and the “3” signifies its third launch. GPT-3 is an AI that uses an autoregressive language model and deep machining learning to create texts that mimic human writing.
It does this by using certain algorithms and existing content on the web to create unique and new pieces of content.
GPT-3 is the best and largest Natural Language Processing Transformer (NLP) when it comes to accurately mimic human thought patterns.
GPT-3 generated content is often indistinguishable from human written content. It can also complete an impressive range of tasks such as:
- Creating charts, diagrams, and tables
- Creating pictures, 3D renderings, and even animations
- Developing website templates
- Creating a range of content including resumes and sales copy
- Analyzing content
- Playing games
- Writing machine learning models
- And much more
Believe it or not, the GPT-3 AI can also “philosophize” about the meaning of, for example, life. It is no wonder that Jasper AI uses GPT-3 AI and why it has become one of the best AI content generation tools, among other things, out there.
How Jasper Thinks
When it comes to using the many features that Jasper AI has to offer, I found that it is extremely important to understand how Jasper thinks. Like all tools, it is important to know how to use it if you are to effectively accomplish your goal, and Jasper is no different.
First, the “training” for GPT-3 was completed at the end of 2019. In other words, the information that the AI was “fed” was the information that was available in 2019 and the preceding years.
Furthermore, the AI “read” and processed about 10% of the internet which is a huge amount but doesn’t cover everything.

So, for example, I asked Jasper to write a paragraph about the war in Ukraine, and I received the following:
The war in Ukraine is a conflict that began in 2014 between the Ukrainian government and pro-Russian separatist rebels in the country’s east. The fighting has resulted in over 10,000 deaths and has displaced more than 1.5 million people. Despite several ceasefires, the violence has continued unabated and shows no signs of stopping.
(NOTE: Jasper does not always provide accurate facts; so, please do not quote the above as fact without further research.)
If I were to ask a human today to write a paragraph about the war in Ukraine, they would write about the war that started in 2022. But, believe it or not, Jasper can do the same. Since Jasper does not yet know about the most recent war, you’ll have to “teach” it by using “Power Mode” and imputing relevant background information.

After inputting some information from the United Nations about the most recent war, here is what I got:
Since Russia launched a military offensive against Ukraine, the United Nations has condemned the attack as a violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The International Criminal Court has also opened an investigation for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Information Generation
When it comes to information generation, it is not as simple as giving Jasper a prompt with a short brief and expecting to get a full article on the subject. Jasper can only generate content based on the information it has.
So, for example, if the only information that Jasper has on the subject is information that you give it, then you can expect to get an article that just rephrases that information over and over again.
To solve this issue, I have found it best to add a short content brief with any needed background information for each paragraph. This will ensure that Jasper doesn’t just repeat the same information over and over and that your article is packed full of relevant information.
How Jasper Chooses Words
If you were to finish the sentence, “I go to the gas station to get ____,” what would you say? Most would probably say “gas.” Because of that, Jasper will probably say “gas” as well. However, that is not always the case.
Jasper’s decision-making may look like this:
- “Gas” 80%
- “Snacks” 10%
- “Coffee” 7%
- “Gum” 3%
Jasper will not always choose the most popular option; however, it is more likely to do so. This is where you come in. If you want Jasper to understand what you are looking for, then you’ll want to include key contextual information.
I found that it is easiest to include the basics plus some key details. Then, during the editing process, I can change anything if needed.
Jasper Loves Patterns
Patterns are everything for AI and Jasper is no exception. When writing instructions for Jasper to follow, it will look at your instructions to see if there is a pattern that it can mimic.
For example, if you want Jasper to write an article about someone, then Jasper may imitate press articles online about that person or, perhaps, a more bibliographical format.
So, when I give Jasper a brief, I find it best to structure it in a way that matches the format style that I am going for. For a story, I may start out with “Once upon a time” and for a magazine article I may start out with “This person is the President of [blank] and has accomplished [blank].”
Jasper will then take my brief and compare it to similar formats. Then, Jasper will write an article based on patterns that match my brief.
While it was a bit confusing at first to learn the “language” of Jasper, after getting a hang of it through trial and error, I have found Jasper to be an extremely useful tool and have been able to streamline my content creation process.
Pricing and Plans

The Jasper.AI pricing is one of the more expensive ones out there. However, the amounts of words included are customizable which can result in a lower or higher average price based on how many words you need.
I found this feature to be convenient because we don’t all need, for example, 100k words of generated content a month. So, if you only need, let’s say, 10k words a month, then that is all you have to pay for.
BONUS FOR OUR READERS
Starter
The standard starter plan comes with 35k words a month for $49 if you pay monthly or $40 if you pay annually. You also get:
- 50+ AI templates
- Support for 20+ languages
- Up to 5 users
- Chat support
Keep in mind that the words that are included are not equal to the final product. Instead, they account for every word that was generated throughout the entire process.
35k words will work fine for occasional use and writing small pieces of copy. The starter pack isn’t great for those looking to use Jasper to write articles and long-form pieces of content.
For one, you don’t get access to the Google Docs style editor, which is critical when writing longer pieces of content.
Secondly, you are missing out on valuable commands that will enable Jasper to write specific and long pieces of content.
Also, keep in mind that while you can get a starter pack with 320k words included, at that point, it would be cheaper and better to get the Boss Mode package.
Boss Mode
The Boss Mode package is where things start getting interesting. The standard includes 100k words a month for $99 if paid monthly and $82 a month if paid annually.
Again, this package includes customization; so, if you need more words, then you can go up to 700k words. If you need even more words, then Jasper AI provides custom pricing for orders above 700k.
The Boss Mode package includes everything that the starter package includes plus important features such as:
- The Google Docs style editor
- Compose & command features
- Maximum content lookback
- Increased limits on templates
- Priority chat support
The Google Docs style editor is by far the biggest addition to this package which allows you to create long-form pieces of content. The Boss Mode package is a must for any who plans to use Jasper to write articles or blog posts.
Business
The Jasper AI pricing on the Business package is yet to be revealed as the package is not completely out yet. However, a demo version is available. This package offers everything that the Boss Mode package has plus:
- Custom words/user packages
- Manage limits per user
- Flexible billing options
- Dedicated Account Manager
- Onboarding & training sessions
- Premium technical support
This package is ideal for those with a business or team. It is designed to help manage employees or teams and give executive control to one user.
Money Back Guarantee
In a way, there is a Jasper AI free trial. However, it is in the form of a money back guarantee. I think it would be a hard sell if it didn’t have a money back guarantee as there are cheaper platforms out there.
However, they offer a “no questions asked” 100% money back guarantee that lasts for five days. Being able to test out Jasper AI without the fear of losing my money allowed me to see what Jasper has to offer without having to commit to it.

As I have already mentioned, after using it, I found Jasper to be worth the money and to be one of the best if not the best AI content generators out there.
Major and Minor Features
Jasper comes with over 50 templates that are each designed for a specific use. However, depending on the content you want to make, only some will be useful.
For example, as a blog and article writer myself, the most useful templates were the ones that had to do with generating long-form pieces of content.
Major Features
The most helpful templates tend to have to do with either marketing or writing long-form pieces of content.
Documents
The Documents template is easily my favorite. It is designed to help you write pieces from start to finish. When you create a new document, you can choose to start from scratch or choose an option called, “Blog post workflow” that will give you a questionnaire about the article or blog post that you want to write. This includes keywords, introduction preferences, as well as title ideas.
Originally, I preferred starting from scratch, until I realized that I could save a decent amount of time on setting up the article if I chose the blog post workflow.
The editor itself has some interesting features, on the top right, you can enable Grammarly if you already have an account with them.
There is also a plagiarism checker. While Jasper writes unique content, there is always a possibility whether a human writes it or not, that it will accidentally be similar to someone else’s piece of content.
Sadly, the plagiarism checker isn’t free, and it is actually pretty expensive if you plan to use Jasper for long-form pieces of content. The pricing works so that searches cost three cents for the first 200 words plus one cent for each additional 100 words.
Considering that there are free plagiarism checkers out there, I do not find the Jasper integrated plagiarism checker to be worth the money.
There is a “re-phrase” feature that is great when a paragraph or sentence doesn’t turn out the way you want it to. I tend to use this feature more than the others when writing long-form pieces of content.
Another feature is the “Explain it to a fifth grader option” which will make more technical content simpler. However, I have not found that I ever need to use this feature. There usually isn’t a huge difference in the paragraph when I use that feature, and I think that the “re-phrase” feature is the better option in such a scenario.
Lastly, there is a “Fix grammar” feature that will fix any grammar mistakes. This is an okay feature. If you have an existing article or piece of content that you want edited, then using that feature can help. However, the punctuation choice, while technically correct, may not always be the best option. In the end, I see that feature as a helpful but not essential tool.
As for the more major features of the editor, it includes all the necessities that you would need to create an article or blog posts such as headings, fonts, images, and links.

The output length of small, medium, and large is actually a feature that I use often. Jasper will sometimes stop in a middle of a sentence so as to not run long. When this happens, you can either choose to lower the output length or increase it to get rid of the sentence or finish it.
A critical tool is the “Power Mode.” Power modes allow you to enter commands such as “write an informational article” and give background information about the article.
This feature is especially important when Jasper doesn’t have information on the topic that you want to write about. As previously mentioned, Jasper doesn’t have any information on topics that came into existence after the end of 2019.
So, if your article is on, for example, a sports game that happened in 2021, then you will need to use “Power Mode” and “feed” Jasper relevant background information.
All in all, as an article and blog post writer, the “Documents” template is easily the most useful to me.
One-Shot Blog Post

The One-Shot Blog Post template isn’t great if you expect to get a finished blog post in one shot. Jasper likes to repeat information, and you’re likely to see that in this template on a larger scale.
However, I still find it to be useful when it comes to curing writer’s block. If I am ever short on ideas, then I can use the One-Shot Blog Post template to get multiple ideas in an instant.
So, while I don’t actually use this template to create blog posts, I do use it for inspiration.
Blog Topic Ideas
The Blog Topic Ideas template gives ideas for article ideas. You can input your company name, product description, audience, tone of voice, and examples of what you are looking for and Jasper will use that to generate topic ideas that are geared toward your audience.
I find this tool to be a huge time saver when trying to come up with new content ideas. It is a simple template to use, and it delivers!
Blog Post Intro and Conclusion Paragraphs
Jasper also has a template for both blog post introduction and conclusion paragraphs. While I don’t use this tool often, it can be a nice precise way to tell Jasper that you don’t just want a normal paragraph.
Blog Post Outline
The blog post outline template is a huge time saver when writing an article or blog post. It will provide you with a basic outline for your article. This helps cure writer’s block and is a quick source of new content ideas.
The only downside is that Jasper can be a bit picky when you give it a topic. Sometimes, I have to rewrite the topic multiple times before Jasper understands it and provides me with an outline.
Creative Story

Then there is the creative story template which is helpful for generating story ideas or having Jasper write as if telling a story.
I don’t use this template too often, but it is one of the more impressive ones as it shows the range of what Jasper can do.
Google and Facebook Templates
There are many templates designed for google ads and “google my business” profiles. Jasper can write your ad headline and descriptions as well as content for your “google my business” profile, such as:
- What’s New Posts
- Event Posts
- Product Descriptions
- Offer Posts
Jasper also can generate headlines and descriptions designed for Facebook ads.
SEO Templates
Jasper has templates that are meant to help your pages rank on google. Jasper can generate titles and meta descriptions geared for:
- Home Pages
- Service Pages
- Blog Posts
- Product pages
You will still need to input relevant keywords for Jasper to use, but then Jasper will take those keywords as well as the other information you provided it and optimize for SEO.
YouTube Templates
Jasper has many YouTube templates that can be a great tool to use when creating and marketing YouTube videos. Jasper can generate YouTube titles and descriptions. However, one of the more helpful templates will generate video topic ideas.
The two most helpful templates are the “video outline template” and the “video script hook and introduction template.”

Jasper uses the same style that is typically used in creating videos, and it is just yet another example of Jasper’s flexible writing style.
Amazon Templates
Jasper has templates that are designed to create product features and product descriptions for Amazon. The product features are generated using bullet points to match Amazon’s style.
Other Notable Templates
Jasper has a ton of templates, but here are some of the best:
- AIDA—Great tool that uses the AIDA marketing framework to create copy
- Product Description—A quick way to generate product descriptions
- PAS Framework—Great tool that uses the PAS marketing framework to create copy
- Personalized Cold Emails—Emails designed for conversions
- Marketing Angles—Marketing ideas for your product/company
- Engaging Questions—Generates questions that you can use to increase audience engagement
- Before-After-Bridge Framework—Marketing copy that uses the BAB framework
- Mini-VSL (Video Sales Letter)—This tool is one of the more involved ones. Before Jasper generates a video sales letter, you will need to fill out a 15-question questionnaire. However, it is worth taking the time to do this as it will use that questionnaire to generate a 60 to 90-second script.
Depending on how you plan to use Jasper, you may find other features more valuable than others, but the above are the ones that I find helpful.
Minor Features
Jasper has a lot of what I see as being minor features. Here is a quick look at some of them:
Commands—Basically the same tool that can be found in Documents when using “Power Mode.” You can give Jasper background information on a topic and then give a command of what to do with that information.
Paragraph Generator—Another tool that can be found in Documents and is used to generate a variety of paragraphs at once.
Content Improver—Simply rewrites a piece of content. This can also be found in Documents.
Perfect Headline—Creates a headline for your business. This tool can be helpful, but it is such a small and specific tool that it can be tedious to use often.
Photo Post Captions—Creates captions of Instagram posts. This tool can be helpful when you’re trying to come up with caption ideas for your Instagram post.
Company Bio—Generates a company bio. This is another tool that can help with writer’s block by providing content ideas.
Personal Bio—Same as the company bio tool but, has a “point of view” option that allows you to switch from first to third person.
Real Estate Listing Residential—Generates real estate listings that will help you sell a house or apartment.
Pinterest Pin Title and Description—Creates titles and descriptions designed for Pinterest pins. You can even input keywords so that Jasper can optimize the post.
Unique Value Propositions—This is a unique and probably underutilized tool that will generate statements that focuses on the benefit of your offer. I find it great to generate ideas on how to market a product.

Press Release Title & Intro—Jasper can generate press release titles and introductions that accurately mimic the professional and straightforward voice that is commonplace in press releases.
Poll Questions & Multiple Choice Answers—This is another tool that is great if you are in need of content ideas. While I have found that it is not perfect, you can still pick and choose what you want to keep and what you want to change.
TikTok Video Captions—Creates TikTok captions using your description of the video, your choice in the tone of voice you want, and the keywords that you are targeting.
While there are other templates on Jasper AI, I don’t find them particularly useful as they are either a close copy to another template or they are just not worth the time to use as it would be faster for me to produce the content myself.
Honorable Mention
On a more comical note, I have to mention the template: “Ridiculous marketing ideas.” Jasper AI describes it as: “A fun template that generates bad marketing ideas that might get you on the front page of the paper for all the wrong reasons. We are not responsible for you ending up in jail or losing all your customers if you attempt these. This is a joke.”

If you are looking for a laugh, then I highly recommend this template.
Jasper Art
Believe it or not, Jasper is not just a writer but an artist of sorts. While it cost an additional $20 a month, you can have access to an unlimited amount of uniquely generated and royalty-free images.

You can even choose which art style you want the picture to mimic, the tone of the piece, and keywords.
Oftentimes, I can search for as much as 20 minutes for a free image that works for the content I’m writing. However, using Jasper AI art, I can have Jasper create a “free” image that meets my requirements without having to spend my time surfing the net for something similar.
However, I would not recommend this service to the average user as there are some good free sights that offer royalty-free images. On the other hand, if you find yourself spending a lot of time looking for the right image, then Jasper AI art may be something to try.
It can also just be a fun tool to try out for a month even if you don’t need images for your content. You can still generate fun and unique images for yourself and your friends.
User Interface
The UI of Jasper AI is actually very simple and intuitive. The dashboard is not overly complex and clearly labels each function.
The many templates each show a picture, the name, and a short description which makes them easy to quickly identify and understand what each one is for.
With the Boss Mode plan, you will also have an enlarged option on the dashboard to directly open up a new document. Considering that I use Documents the most, I find that to be a convenient feature.
There is also an in-depth training course called “Jasper Bootcamp” that will not only teach you how to use the platform but also how Jasper thinks and how you can get the most out of Jasper.
All in all, I never found myself looking up guides online on how to use Jasper as all the information you need is provided to you on the platform. The UI is easy to navigate, and I have yet to run into any problems.
Who Should Use Jasper AI?

There are a lot of reviews online that will say that Jasper is a tool that everyone will benefit from. While I think Jasper is great, I don’t think that everyone will benefit from it.
For one, the cost is a bit high, and it wouldn’t be worth getting unless you plan to use it often. Secondly, while there are templates that will help with, for example, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, the templates only perform minor functions such as generating post titles.
So, for those who want to use Jasper to help them out with their, for example, Instagram account, then you probably won’t be getting your money’s worth as, again, Jasper’s templates in that area don’t provide much benefit, and it will probably only save you a couple of minutes of content creation time.
When it comes to blog posts or articles, Jasper is prone to invent facts out of thin air. This means that there can be a lot of fact-checking work to be done on your part before the final piece is done. So, for those looking for a tool that can create the perfect piece of content, Jasper is not the one for you.
Lastly, I think it is important to note that Jasper is also not meant for those who don’t have a strong grasp of the language Jasper is writing in. While Jasper writes fluently, the content, especially long-form content, that it produces is rarely if ever a finished product.
Rewording, light editing, and fact-checking are all necessary on your part. While Jasper can reword sections and fix grammar mistakes, that does not mean that it will come out the way it should. So, it is your job to discern the good and the bad.
That being said, Jasper can be a huge time saver for those who plan to use it more intensely and for more difficult tasks. For example, if you are a social media manager, marketer, or content writer, then Jasper can provide many benefits to you.
But, you shouldn’t expect Jasper to be anything more than an assistant. You will not only have to tell Jasper what you want it to do, but you will have to constantly, tweak and update what it generates.
Final Thoughts
I found Jasper AI to be a simple and easy-to-use platform. It can be a huge time saver for those who create a lot of content or for those who create long-form content. While I wouldn’t recommend it for the casual user due to the price, I think it is one of the best if not the best AI content generators out there.
